This place used to be great. But it is just sad now. The staff seem miserable and disinterested. Each row of tanks were infected with one disease or another. Many tanks had no lighting. The filter systems were shockingly loud and clearly struggling. The tanks were dirty inside and out. The floors were wet and filthy. The bird room has not changed in 15 years and still house many of the sad neglected birds. Overall, it is clear that the Averium has thrown in the towel and no longer has any interest in being a quality pet/supply outlet. Sad.

I have been here a few times to get supplies for my bird, and the experience every time has been pretty negative. First off the staff is extremely unapproachable. There is usually no one in the store so it's extremely awkward when you walk in and they just stare at you as you walk around alone. They are selectively rude to customers as well. The last time I went they were talking up a storm and giving wonderful service to the customer in front of me, and then wouldn't even give me eye contact as I checked out.

The worst part about the store is the deplorable and disgusting condition of the birds they keep there. Every bird was screaming and half bald from stress plucking. I wouldn't be surprised if they all had mites as well. The room was gross, dark, and depressing. The cages were also way too small and clearly had not been clean in who knows how long. I would highly suggest not going here to purchase a bird.

Friendly staff with excellent knowledge of fish and equipment. The only place I go for my fish and supplies. Thanks Katie for all your help, I hate to see you close the store. Best wishes for your future.

Nice fish, though the employees weren’t very attentive, one was laying down behind the counter on her phone, the other was just sitting there. Had a few questions but didn’t bother to ask. Went and got a fish from Petco instead

Very hit or miss. I go there for driftwood or rock for my aquarium. Their aviary section is nice and they have lots of cages and birds for sale. The fish section has always seemed like an afterthought. The staff however is always friendly and courteous!
